These are my personal top 76 singles of those that peaked on the Billboard charts in 1976. The list is solely my opinion. Using Joel Whitburn's book, Pop Annual 1955-1999, I started with
the 527 singles that charted on Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 chart in
1976. An initial pass through
that list narrowed it down to about 140 tunes. The list was then
narrowed to 95, then listening,
ranking, and editing began. The top 76 are presented here, in order.
And just like that we're up to a dozen songs in common between the three of us!

Pssst! Don't tell Martin but you and I have six songs in common so far he didn't even mention. Then again we all used different criteria for our lists so it is amazing we share any songs at all..

Of course, I am continuing to enjoy the appearance of disco and R&B in Mark's list.
Mark wasn't supposed to tell you that we have six songs in common - respect the Pssst! people - but no they are not same position. Just six songs he and I ranked that you left off your list altogether but its understandable because we all started with a different kettle of fish so our batches of fish sticks are gonna turn out different. Mmmmm, tartar sauce.
DeleteNumbers are showing yours and Mark's lists have somewhat closer rankings than any other combination of the three of our lists - you guys were within one number a few times - and rumor has it you both picked the exact same song for a certain postion in the Top 10.
