These are my personal top 76 singles of those that peaked on the Billboard charts in 1976. The list is solely my opinion. Using Joel Whitburn's book, Pop Annual 1955-1999, I started with
the 527 singles that charted on Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 chart in
1976. An initial pass through
that list narrowed it down to about 140 tunes. The list was then
narrowed to 95, then listening,
ranking, and editing began. The top 76 are presented here, in order.
Great Day!
ReplyDeleteNot only has Martin finished up his own list of his Favorite Songs from 1976 in a somewhat surprising fashion but you have kicked off your own 1976 list!
Already there are some commonalities, songs on each of our three lists:
Heart's Crazy On You
Taveres's Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel
Captain & Tennille's Lonely Night (Angel Face)
Starbuck's Moonlight Feels Right
Maxine Nightingale's Right Back Where We Started From
Thin Lizzy's The Boys Are Back In Town
And potenital for many more!
Keep 'em coming!
Definitely some overlap between the three of us, as Herc mentioned, but clearly each of us has our own unique taste just based on where each of these six common songs fell on our respective lists. I think we'd definitely get into some interesting discussions if the three of us ever sit in a room together.
