A rare turn of events left me by myself Friday through Sunday and we've been having some rough, wet weather here in Texas lately, so I chose to stay inside those 3 days in a move I dubbed "HermitFest '15" (pants optional). On a whim, I decided to listen only to vinyl albums from the early-mid '80s, with one album for each letter of the alphabet, if possible. Here's the rundown, in the order in which the albums were impulsively selected and heard:
- After the Fire - Self-titled (1982)
- Buggles - Adventures in Modern Recording (1981)
- Cretones - Thin Red Line (1980)
- Dream Academy - Self-titled (1985)
- E.L.O. - Time (1981)
- Franke & the Knockouts - Self-titled (1981)
- Go-Go's - Beauty and the Beat (1981)
- Haircut 100 - Paint and Paint (1984)
- Icehouse - Primitive Man (1982)
- Judy's - The Moo Album (1985)
- Klugh, Earl - Low Ride (1983)
- Lowe, Nick - Nick the Knife (1982)
- Mendes, Sergio - Self-titled (1983)
- Nelson, Bill - The Love That Whirls (Diary of a Thinking Heart) (1982)
- OXO - Self-titled (1983)
- Producers - Self-titled (1981)
- Queen - Greatest Hits (1981)
- Rare Silk - New Weave (1983)
- Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (81-82-84-84) (1982)
- Tyzik - Prophecy (1981)
- Urgh! A Music War (1981)
- Van Halen - 1984 (1984)
- Washington, Grover, Jr. - Winelight (1980)
- No X album, sorry. The Urgh! album (above) includes the track "Beyond and Back" by the band X if that helps any.
- Yes - 90125 (1983)
- Z-Rocks - Self-titled (1981)
More than a few surprises here, my friend. Xanadu soundtrack is obvious choice for X for you yet you don't have it on vinyl.
