The Top Billboard Adult Contemporary Artists of 1976 - 1985 [Part 1 of 3]

I had such a good time putting together last week's list of The Top Billboard Top 40 Artists of 1976 - 1985, I thought I'd put together a similar list for Adult Contemporary charts.  From 1973-79, the chart was titled "Easy Listening" and had 50 chart positions.  In 1979, the title was changed to "Adult Contemporary." In 1984, the title was changed to "Hot Adult Contemporary" and reduced to 40 chart positions.

The following 50 acts had at least ten singles premiere on the Billboard AC charts in the years 1976-85.   Next time, we'll start ranking them by number of debuts.

ABBA Air Supply
Herb Alpert Bee Gees
George Benson Glen Campbell
Captain & Tennille Carpenters
Chicago Rita Coolidge
Commodores John Denver
Neil Diamond Dr. Hook
Sheena Easton England Dan & John Ford Coley
George Fischoff Roberta Flack
Fleetwood Mac Dan Fogelberg
Crystal Gayle Andy Gibb
Hall & Oates Engelbert Humperdinck
Michael Jackson Billy Joel
Elton John Melissa Manchester
Barry Manilow Johnny Mathis

Olivia Newton-John Dolly Parton
Pointer Sisters Eddie Rabbitt
Helen Reddy Cliff Richard
Lionel Richie Kenny Rogers
Linda Ronstadt Diana Ross
Barbra Streisand Donna Summer

SPOILER ALERT: the top act had a remarkable 31 songs debut on the AC charts during My Favorite Decade.
