In 1984, Billboard published a Jazz Album list every two weeks with fifty albums ranked until the October 20 issue. Beginning with the October 20 issue, the chart returned to 40 spots. A total of 140 albums charted in 1984. Here's a chart of the #1 jazz albums of that year:
